Criminal Justice in Action

Module code: CR1002 (double module)

What is the process of the criminal justice system from the moment an individual is arrested right up to their release/conviction in court? Why does the criminal justice system work in this way? Who is involved in this journey?

This module will consider models of the agencies involved in the criminal justice system, i.e. how the police control crime and how the courts exert their power on certain communities, particular ethnicities and even specific genders. Having gained a depth of knowledge on the subject, you'll critically explore the process and various arguments under exam conditions and reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of your own performance over the year.
