BSc Research Skills, Employability and General Paper

Module code: CH3260

This module offers a great opportunity to develop your general chemistry skills through a variety of different methods.

You'll submit a general paper, in which you will solve unseen synoptic chemistry problems. You'll solve these using principles that you learnt in your core modules in your first and second years, ensuring that you retain knowledge gained during your first two years of study.

This module also has a focus on research methods outside the experimental. You'll learn how to effectively use chemistry databases to search for and collate information from published sources, and you'll critically analyse scientific papers for both content and professional presentation.

In addition, this module features aspects which will help you to either secure post-graduate employment or further study. You'll reflect on your own skills and formulate action plans to improve. Also, you'll communicate aspects of your research project to an audience of non-experts in your field.
