Genes and Development

‘Genes and development’ will closely examine the ways in which genes control development, drawing on examples from a variety of model organisms, particularly Drosophila. This module will consider the techniques that allow us to analyse and manipulate gene action during development and demonstrate that there are common molecular mechanisms that underlie the development of diverse organisms. By investigation gene function and regulation during development this module will shed some light on the pathogenesis of human genetic diseases.
