Body Systems 1

Module code: BS1083

This is the first of four modules that will begin to cover systems of the body. Here you will build upon the molecular and cellular principles and tissue structure and function covered in the first two modules to understand the embryology, anatomy, and physiology of the principle body systems. You will also be introduced to some of the common diseases affecting these systems, how these systems are considered clinically and investigated, and the basic principles of the treatments used in patients presenting with problems affecting these systems.

The systems covered in this module are:

  • The Musculoskeletal System
  • The Cardiovascular System
  • Metabolism, Endocrine and Haematology

The body systems modules are taught using a blended approach of lectures, group work sessions based on problem solving and practical sessions. Anatomy is taught using a blend of technology enhanced learning and human dissection.
