Celebrating the start of the lunar new year.
2022 welcomes the Year of the Tiger on 1 February. Although Covid restrictions are easing, please be mindful of other people when attending events.
Celebrations on campus
At midday on Tuesday 1 February, come along to Centenary Square to watch a traditional lion dance.
And don't forget to pick up a fortune cookie, which we will be handing out between 12.00pm and 2.00pm.
Celebrations in the city
On Saturday 5 February there will be performances and workshops including music, shadow puppets and storytelling at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery
On Sunday 6 February, there will be a traditional procession around the city centre. At 5.00pm in Green Dragon Square there will be a spectacular finale including dance, music and fireworks.

Spring Festival Gala
In response to the Spring Festival atmosphere, the University of Leicester Chinese Students and Scholars Association will hold a Spring Festival Gala in the Sue Townsend Theatre on 13 February 2022. The gala will include songs, dances, singing and other artistic forms. There will be around 150 performers, staffs and audiences. The Association is holding this Spring Festival Gala to bring the audience and the audience of Chinese students in Leicester online into the carnival, and create a festive scene of 'universal celebration and jubilation'.
