Student heritage collecting week 2025

The University Archives collect material that reflects what our students, staff and alumni have done since the University was founded, and how life has changed. We can only do this with your help.

As part of the School of Museum Studies Heritage Specialism 2024/25, we are running a live collecting project. We want you, our students, to donate material that reflects your experience of being a Leicester student to preserve in our archives. We are interested in the everyday as much as the unusual, and submissions from campus-based and distance learners. You may record these memories as audio, video, photo, art or as a written diary/journal.

Things you might want to record could include information about:

  • If you are new to Leicester, what were your first impressions of the University and/or city
  • The places that are important to you, around Leicester, the University and your home
  • How you spend your time, including your studies, social life and any activities you take part in
  • Everyday life, like the food you eat, the people you see, and where you live
  • Any work or volunteering you take part in

Collecting will happen across the week of 10 March - 14 March 2025, through the form linked to below. To be able to preserve the material you send us certain permissions and information must be submitted along with your entry. Please read our terms and conditions before making your contribution.

If you have physical items you would like to donate or are a former student without a current University of Leicester email address, please contact Archives and Special Collections.
