Leicester offers many opportunities for you to get involved in activities outside of study and joining societies is a great way of meeting like-minded people, having fun and trying something new.
You can develop the skills relevant to the media industry with the University's highly active student media team - get involved with our student radio and TV station, or join our long-running student newspaper.
History of Art and Film societies
From the biggest blockbusters to the critically acclaimed corners of world cinema, Film Society is a chance to get together with like-minded people to watch and talk about your favourite films. Alongside weekly screenings we have themed bar crawls, cinema trips, film quizzes and many other socials. So, if you have a guilty pleasure for Nicolas Cage or can’t stop talking about Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, you’ll be more than welcome. You can take a look at the Film Society's Students' Union page for more information.
History of Art Society
The History of Art Society is here to unleash your inner artist and art historian. We encourage our members to display their own art and write articles for our website. You are at liberty to write about music, fashion, cars, sculptures and also produce short films and art for our online gallery. We also organise study groups in the David Wilson Library twice a week - feel free to pop in if you need essay guidance or a quiet space to study. Our society is open to anyone interested in art and museums. For more details, you can browse the History of Art Society's website or see their Students' Union page.
