About us

DBS is managed by an executive group whose membership consists of the College Director of Operations, Dean of Research and the Manager of Collaboration and Scientific Research within the Preclinical Research Facility, the DBS Facility Manager and the DBS Operations Manager. Day to day operations are managed by the Operations and Facility managers. DBS consists of an administration support team, managed by the Operations Manager and a technical team, managed by the Facility Manager.  

The animal technologists at the University are specialists in the care and welfare of laboratory animals and can also provide technical support to research programmes. The animal technologists are encouraged to undertake professional qualifications such as those awarded by the Institute of Animal Technology and to take part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by attending scientific meetings, researcher and supplier presentations and visits to other institutions.
