Course description
The MSc in Management combines a comprehensive grounding in the functions of management with a critical analysis of the context in which managers work. You will develop a critical understanding of the economic, social and political environments which affect organisational life.
The course features a combination of core and option modules which allow you to focus on specialist areas including corporate governance, international human resources management, managing information, operations management and knowledge management.
This degree will equip you with the skills to critically evaluate the published literature on management and organisations and to synthesise the range of issues and perspectives which inform research and practice in the field. It will also develop your practical transferable skills including the ability to conduct independent research. You will have the opportunity to develop the expertise and knowledge to manage competently, capably and ethically.
The course has been designed to meet the needs of newly qualified graduates and professionals setting out in their careers as managers.

Teaching and learning
You will be taught through a mixture of methods, including seminars, lectures, group work, case study analysis and guided reading. You will be assigned a personal tutor who has a pastoral role and can offer support and advice.
Your work will be assessed through both assignments and examinations, plus an 8,000-word dissertation.
