Course description

On our MSc Management you will be provided with a strong foundation in the key functions of management while exploring the economic, social and political factors that shape organisational success.

Designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals, the course combines research-led insights with practical application, helping you understand how organisations operate and respond to complex global challenges.  You will develop valuable analytical, strategic and entrepreneurial skills, learning how to evaluate business issues, solve real-world management problems and make evidence-based decisions.

You will study a broad range of subjects including strategy, marketing, finance, accounting and economics, alongside the human dimensions of organisational life such as leadership, organisational behaviour and the management of people.  You will consider global value chains, e-commerce and the questions of risk and sustainability that increasingly shape how organisations act.  Throughout you will critically examine the environments in which managers operate, developing an informed appreciation of how organisations respond to them.

After the taught element of the course you will have the option to take a research-based dissertation or a placement in business through our With Professional Practice pathway. By undertaking this module, which includes an 8-week virtual internship, you could graduate with professional practice reflected in your degree title.

Throughout the course you will build transferable skills in critical thinking, independent research and responsible leadership, preparing you for management careers across a wide range of sectors.  You will leave equipped with the expertise, global perspective and ethical mindset needed to lead effectively and proactively to shape your future career.
