Compassionate and Safe Midwifery and Neonatal Care

In this module you will gain a sound evidence based knowledge of maternity care provision and midwifery models of care that facilitate the physiology of childbirth and the safe and compassionate care of mother and baby in normal situations, for example the continuity of carer model.

You will apply the knowledge that you have gained of psychological, social, emotional and spiritual factors that may positively or adversely influence childbirth physiology, to ensure that a safe environment is always promoted in a range of maternity settings. There will be opportunities to reflect on local, national and international guidelines and frameworks that promote compassionate and safe midwifery and neonatal care.
