This module explores the roles that technological systems play in the operation of financial institutions, looking at the design and operation of clearing and settlement systems and fund transfer infrastructure. You will use case studies to analyse the evolution of information and communication systems in financial settings and explore the potential benefits and risks associated with these systems.

After completing successfully this module students will be able to:

  • Discuss and explain the roles that technological systems play in the operation of financial institutions, including the design and operation of clearing and settlement systems and fund transfer infrastructure. 
  • Analyse, using case studies, the evolution of information and communication systems in financial settings and explain the potential benefits and risks associated with these systems.
