Field Course

Module code: HS7105

The fieldcourse will introduce you to comparative studies of regional human landscapes as artefacts of historic cultures (broadly defined to include aspects such as religion, work, leisure and class) in a region outside the Midlands.

By venturing out into the field, you’ll learn about the continuities between periods from sub-Roman times to today, the contrasts between sub-regions, and the evidence provided by the built environment, whether it be domestic, ecclesiastical or industrial.

By the end of the module, you will have a greater feeling for and appreciation of the evidence gained from landscapes and be able to apply the lessons learned on the field course in interpreting the historical landscapes of other English counties.
