Historical Research Methods

Module code: HS7005

This module will equip you with the methodological and analytical skills to carry out high-level academic research - vital when undertaking your dissertation.

The module comprises 4 blocks of teaching. In 'Connections and Transformations', you'll reflect on the processes of historical change. 'Historical Sources and Analysis' will encourage you to think critically about the creation, survival, interpretation and analysis of different historical sources. In 'Descriptive Statistics for Historians', you'll gain the ability to interpret and present data appropriately.

For the final block of seminars, you'll choose a specialist option for detailed examination. The options will include geographic information systems, palaeography, textual sources, and visual sources.
