Skills for Professional Geographers (BA Human)

Module code: GY1025 

This module is designed to begin the development of the professional skills that many employers will expect students to have as geography graduates. In addition they will develop skills that will be required throughout their university careers - skills like essay writing, finding information, referencing, critical reading and doing presentations.

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this module students will be able to:

• Demonstrate their ability to locate, critically evaluate and appropriately use information in the study of geography
• Communicate geographical concepts and information in written and oral formats
• Work effectively as a member of a group to collectively explore geographical concepts
• Identify strategies for further developing their skills as a professional geographer
