Reservoir Geoscience: Hydrocarbons and Carbon Sequestration

Module code: GL3041

Reservoir geoscience looks at the geology and geophysics of conventional and unconventional petroleum reservoirs and how these may also be used to store carbon dioxide. The module covers basin formation and hydrocarbon maturation, basin exploration, and factors that determine the quality of the reservoir and the nature of the hydrocarbons. Conventional oil and gas, as well as shale gas, are considered, together with carbon capture and sequestration. The module is delivered through a series of lectures and practical classes.
