Domestic and Sexual Violence

Module code: CR7148

From the proliferation and impacts of victim/survivors’ stories via the #MeToo movement and its variants, and from controversies regarding how the criminal justice system should respond to sexual and domestic violence offenders, issues of sexual and domestic violence are very current topics for public debate. In this module we aim to explain the complexity of defining, measuring and explaining domestic and sexual violence. Different forms of domestic and sexual violence will be considered in interactive lectures, including rape, domestic homicide and female-perpetrated sexual violence. You will become better able to critically evaluate policy and practice responses to domestic and sexual violence and to communicate academic evidence to a non-academic audience.
