Objects in Archaeology and Museums

In this module we will consider the major archaeological approaches to understanding and classifying objects and the suitability of different techniques for classifying and analysing objects and assemblages. We will also discuss the politics of collecting, and issues surrounding the repatriation of objects. We will explore the factors which influence museum exhibition design and consider what makes an effective display in terms of presenting objects to the public.
