European Union Politics

Module code: PL2016

In 1951, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany signed the Treaty of Rome and founded the European Coal and Steel Community. These first steps to European integration eventually led to the European Union, a highly-integrated single market of 28 states with free movement of people, goods, services and capital. In this module, you'll look at the key principles behind the politics of the European Union.

You'll look at the process of European integration; a process that is continuing much to the chagrin of Eurosceptics across the Union. You'll also examine how the EU operates politically and its actions in specific policy areas.
