Human Rights and Health Care Law

The aims of this module are to explore the impact of human rights principles in the area of health care law. More specifically, there will be a discussion of the basic principles of human rights relevant to the health care context. The module will cover topics, which include the right to health, autonomy and consent to medical treatment, abortion rights, the right to reproduce, the right to life (of the fetus and at the end of life), as well as the right to die. Reference will be made to selected case law at both domestic and international level and you will be able to apply human rights principles to health care dilemmas.
