Climate Change: Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation

Module code: GY2420

This module explores the wide ranging impacts of human-induced climate change on the atmosphere, biosphere, human populations and economies. The focus is on the likely range of impacts and notably, the degree to which geophysical, biological and socio-economic systems are vulnerable to, and able to cope with, adverse impacts. The practical and policy actions that can be taken to manage climate change risks, protect ecosystems, and strengthen the resilience of human communities and livelihoods are all considered. The module is taught via a mixture of lectures, guest lectures, seminars and clinics. The lectures are in part informed by research being carried out by School staff in different parts of the world.
