Science 3: Heat and Energy

Module code: FS0013

The focus of this module is to explore how energy can be used and stored across a wide range of scales.  At the smallest scales, you will look at how energy is stored in the movement of individual atoms and molecules, before going on to learn how this motion is described by an objects temperature and how the movement of energy is described as heat. By exploring the relationship between heat and work, and using it to explain how machines and engines are driven, you will study the fundamental concepts the form the basis of thermodynamics.
