Dissertation

Module code: EN7022

The dissertation represents the culmination of your MA studies, and your chance to put into practice what you have learned from your core and optional courses through a 15,000 word exploration of a topic of your choice. A student-led session will allow you to discuss preliminary ideas amongst yourselves. This will be followed by a formal, though unassessed presentation, which will put forward a proposal for your dissertation.

In consultation with a supervisor, you'll then plan and develop your ideas through a series of written drafts over the summer. Previous topics include the representation of female murderers in Victorian culture, the working-class and outings to the seaside, maternity corsetry and the child reader and writer.
