Advanced Gas Turbines

Module code: EG7422

In this module you'll learn how to calculate the performance of a gas turbine (jet) engine, specifically the turbofan engine used on large civil aircraft. You'll use this to design key parameters of an engine and to be able to explain how engines are designed and tested to be safe. This will also involve how high temperatures in the engine are managed, while protecting the components. You'll also learn how future engine developments are likely to influence aircraft design and performance in the future.
