Rotorcraft Mechanics and Control

Module code: EG4313

In this module, students will explore key historical developments of rotorcraft technology and will gain insight into their future development and design methodology. Students will also learn how to distinguish rotorcraft configurations and to critically assess the major advantages and disadvantages of contemporary airborne vehicles, in addition to recognising critical components for standard helicopters. Further, students will apply standard performance metrics to assess key rotorcraft indices in order to identify key properties of the primary helicopter flight modes (hover, vertical and forward flight) and associated flight control methods.
