This module will introduce you to contemporary investigative practice, and will provide you with a grounding in the knowledge and skills that are required within the field of crime investigations. You will learn about a variety of investigative strategies, and you will learn how these can be applied to particular crimes, as well as how you can critically evaluate these strategies. The module is taught by introducing you to key investigative strategies, and then allows you the opportunity to learn more about these through your own involvement in investigating a case study. You will take on the role of investigator as you seek to examine the details of the crime, and look to acquire evidence in building the case. You will also have the opportunity to acquire and develop a range of key transferable skills, specifically in relation to the ability to communicate in oral and written formats to both a technical and lay audience.
