Financial services companies are one of the two largest IT consumers worldwide and the IT systems in such companies are critical not only for the continuous operation of the business, but also as transformation and differentiation enablers. In order to be able to manage, develop and operate IT systems effectively in such organisations, IT people not only need to have good technical knowledge and skills, but also a sound understanding of the financial services domain and of the relationships between the operating environment, organisational structures, business processes and IT systems. Focusing on the latter, this module will:

  • Provide an introduction to the key financial services domain concepts, organisational units, functions and IT systems
  • Discuss the inter-relationships of the above concepts
  • Provide an overview of the different roles and responsibilities of IT professionals in such organisations
