Operating Systems and Networks

Module code: CO2101

In this module, we will describe the fundamentals of current operating systems, and communications between computers. We will use the Unix operating system and describe key operating system features such as processes, threads, scheduling and synchronisation. We will solve simple problems concerning the benefits and costs of distribution of computer systems, as well as give detailed accounts of the structure and organisation of network hardware and software, and descriptions for the common physical attributes of networks.
