School of Criminology

Volunteer work

As a School we come together to partake in collections for the The Bridge which is a Leicester homeless charity and fundraise for Children in Need every year. The School also encourages all of its students and staff members to take part in volunteer work.

Below are some examples of the type of volunteer work the Criminology community partake in:

PhD student Rachel Keighley: Over the Rainbow work

"Over the Rainbow is an LGBTQ+ podcast dedicated to queer education and representation, which is produced by Rachel Keighley, a postgraduate researcher in the School of Criminology. The podcast contains open and honest conversations with a wide range of LGBTQ+ individuals, to learn more about identity, challenge societal misconceptions, discuss barriers and share much needed resources. Welcome to a new step in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality where the goal is that one day we will be free to define ourselves without constraints on identity. The podcasts can be accessed via Apple and Spotify. Also, you can learn more about the important issues raised in this podcast via the Over the Rainbow Instagram page "

PhD student Sean Blackwell: 2CKids Succeed

The School of Criminology's PhD student Sean Blackwell volunteers at the 2CKids Succeed initiative which brings together business leaders, legislators etc. to build a healthy and resilient community for children.
