Irfan Tariq (Terrorism, Security and Policing MSc 2019)

Irfan Tariq (Terrorism, Security and Policing MSc 2019) came to the University of Leicester on a prestigious, fully funded Chevening Scholarship and serves as a Senior Superintendent in the Federal Police in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Since graduating, Irfan has worked intensively on the front lines against the war on terrorism. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Irfan and his team have had to adapt their usual policing roles significantly, ensuring that PPE and other equipment is being delivered to frontline Police Officers so that they are able to carry out their day-to-day roles safely and effectively. Irfan has received both state and international recognition for his work in developing a logistical command centre during the pandemic to help speed up the supply chain of equipment.

Speaking of his time at Leicester, Irfan says ‘The diversity of experience and interaction with law enforcement officials from different countries while studying at the University of Leicester has really enhanced my networking, skills and knowledge, all of which come in handy in my line of work.’
