Media and Communication at Leicester
Research
Since its establishment as the UK's first Centre for Mass Communication Research in 1966, Media and Communication at Leicester has developed a global reputation for producing innovative and high-quality research in the field of media and communication.
In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) we were ranked 15th overall for Media and Communication research in the UK, and in the top 10 for 'research power', taking into account our high numbers of national and internationally-rated research staff.
Our research is both inter- and multi-disciplinary and committed to socially progressive collaborations and partnerships with a wide array of organisations. Many of our academics act as consultants and advisers to national and international NGOs, public and private sector agencies, government departments, and grassroots and community media organisations – allowing us to showcase our discoveries and apply our insights.
Our current activity is organised around our three distinctive, but intersecting, research clusters - each bringing together a group of expert scholars committed to exploring some of the most urgent and exciting issues in contemporary UK and international media and communication.
