Geographical Research in the Field (Human Geography Overseas Field Course)

In semester two of the second year, Human Geographers take a field course training module that culminates in a one week international field course (past destinations have included New York, Vancouver and Dublin). You will develop skills in preparation for your independent project work, particularly that of the final year dissertation. This urban fieldwork if usually organised around a variety of themes, including (for example):

  • The politics of housing and gentrification
  • International migration and settlement in historical and contemporary times
  • Green cities and environmental justice 
  • Colonialism, dispossession and struggles against inequality
