Promoting safe and effective midwifery care through continuity of care models

This module is facilitated by lectures, workshops, seminars, online learning resources, and guided independent study. In this module you will gain a sound evidence based knowledge of maternity care provision and midwifery models of care that universally facilitate the physiology of childbirth and the safe and effective care of women and their newborn infants, including continuity of care models.

You will apply the knowledge that you have gained of psychological, social, cultural, emotional and spiritual factors that may positively or adversely influence normal childbirth physiology, to ensure that a safe environment is always promoted in a range of maternity settings. There will be opportunities to reflect on local, national and international guidelines and frameworks that promote safe and effective midwifery and neonatal care.
