Victorian society set the tone for today’s modern world. Areas such as sport, industry, technology, transport and leisure dramatically changed during the period between 1790 and 1914, and this module will give you an appreciation of who the Victorians were and how they lived.

You'll contextually explore at the ideas, emotions and opinions of Victorian society and reflect on their impact on our modern world.

You'll also investigate and judge the main forms of Victorian social change, and reflect upon the interrelationships between economic, political, religious, scientific and cultural developments and their significance for understanding Victorian society.

Plus, you'll interpret a selection of primary sources and explain their significance for the study of Victorian social history at an advanced level.
