Description

The Management Accounting module aims with equip you with the basic mathematical techniques for the identification and control of costs and cost management.

It aims to enable you to develop knowledge and apply understanding of management accounting techniques to support management in planning, controlling and monitoring performance in a business environment.

The Management Accounting module also covers the social and environmental cost in the wider context of business in society.

Topics Covered

  • Explain the objectives and role of management accounting in the current business world.
  • Prepare budgets and analyse variances between budget and actual data.
  • Identify and describe alternative approaches to costing.
  • Critically evaluate current trends in management accounting.

Assessment

The module is worth 15 credits towards your third year assessment. This module will be assessed by the following:

  1. A one-hour multiple-choice test (20%)
  2. A two-hour exam (80%)
