Module Outline

This module aims to encourage students to explore and critically reflect on the historical development of the art museum and the contemporary contexts within which they exist. The module engages with a number of key issues and challenges that can be considered as indicators of the changing nature of the art museum. It considers the ways in which museums - traditionally characterised as fiercely resistant to change - are now responding by embracing new roles, forging new relationships and reconfiguring themselves in exciting new forms.
