Our friendly tutors come from both industry and academic backgrounds, so you’ll be taught by a mix of expert practitioners and leading researchers.

Professor Mick Whelan

Professor of Physical Geography
I worked at Unilever before joining the University, and my research interests include the fate of pesticides and chemicals in aquatic systems, and nutrient cycling in soils and water.

Dr Dan Smith

Lecturer in Applied and Environmental Geology
My research interests include natural resources, particularly metals for renewable energy, and the environmental impacts of their extraction.

Dr Moya Burns

Lecturer in Ecology and Environmental Science
I'm interested in how climate change affects invertebrates and their role in the global carbon cycle. I collaborate with Leicester City Council and Buglife, alongside my teaching.

Professor Sue Page

Professor of Physical Geography
As well as teaching, I am a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, and an adviser to plantation companies and government agencies in SE Asia.
