From decreased motivation and productivity all the way to large-scale strikes which could even paralyse regions and nations, the effects of poor employment relations can be catastrophic for businesses and organisations. This module will introduce you to the complex dynamics and processes behind the employment relationship.

As the 21st century continues to unfold, the role of human resource management (HRM) within an organisations has never been more important.

The module will consider the key features of the employment relationship and evaluate relevant practical examples. As well as defining the strategic and operational aspects of HRM.

The module will also introduce to you to the role and important of Human Resource Management within organisations.  Exploring the competing perspectives on Human Resource Management in terms of their historical and cultural development.

This module lays the foundation for MN2131 in year two.
