Understanding Terrorism

This module explores the historical background, and the socio-cultural and political dimensions associated with the development and manifestation of terrorist movements and terrorism. We will analyse the concepts and criteria employed in debates surrounding the definition and analytical breakdown of terrorism. We will take a more in-depth look at how terror is represented in society, including spectacles of terrorism, and how these contribute to the reproduction of terror and the social amplification of the terror threat in contemporary society
