Richard Tapp

Richard Tapp is a Solicitor and Chartered Governance Professional. He has held General Counsel and Company Secretary roles in FTSE-100 and -250 companies for more than 20 years, and is the architect of a multi-award-winning legal services business which now forms part of a Magic Circle law firm. He consults and writes on a range of legal practice management issues, working with law firms, in-house legal teams and alternative legal services providers. He holds an LLM in European Law from the University of Leicester, together with a first degree in law and an MBA. 

He sits as a trustee of a number of charitable bodies principally in the fields of law and governance, and serves on advisory committees in his professional sphere. In his spare time Richard’s interests include music and motorsport. Richard joined Council in 2019 having previously been a co-opted member of Audit Committee, and served as member of Council of the University of Sheffield. He chairs the University’s Audit and Assurance Committee, and is a member of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee.
