Sport and Active Life privacy notice

The Sport and Active Life service is part of the University of Leicester. Further information on the institution can be found on the main University website. The University of Leicester is the Data Controller for your information.

This privacy notice explains how we use your personal information and your rights regarding that information.

What information are we collecting?

  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Health information
  • Secured bank details

Why are we collecting your data?

Your contact details are necessary to provide you access to our facilities, also to keep you informed of service changes, facility closure/faults, fitness appointment cancellations, group fitness class cancellations or membership queries and issues.

How we will use this data?

We will only use your data to contact you ourselves, and only about our services that may directly impact your experience.

What is the legal basis for processing the data?

We use your data for the performance of the contract you signed when you join the gym membership.

We also process your health data (special category data) under your consent. This is exclusively for the purposes to tailor a better service to you.

If we are sharing your data with others who are we sharing it with?

We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes, however the university has a contract with third party data processor, which provides the IT systems to keep your data.

How long we will process your data for?

We will process your data until your memberships comes to an end. After this the data will be anonymised in our systems.
