Leicester Pro-Vice-Chancellor discusses studying at several universities

In the recent Higher Education and Research Bill, the Government proposes that students should get transferable credits for modules and feel free to move between higher education providers. It sounds nice, but there are big risks says Professor Jon Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor with special responsibility with student experience, in an article for The Guardian.

He highlights the challenges of maintaining academic standards and accreditation by professional and statutory regulatory bodies, as well as the extensive work that currently takes place in designing and validating degree programmes. Professor Scott also questions whether the demand is there, and points out that moving institutions regularly would affect students' social life and create challenges in terms of accommodation.
