School of Geography, Geology and the Environment

About

The School of Geography, Geology and the Environment was formed on 1 August 2017, bringing together the former departments of Geography and Geology. We are housed in the Bennett Building along with Jane, our resident juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex.

Teaching and postgraduate study

We teach undergraduate degree courses across all areas of Geography and Geology. We offer a in-house GIS MSc, and contribute to Masters programmes within the social sciences.

We have a thriving cross-disciplinary postgraduate community within the School that is supported by funding schemes including three UK research council-funded Doctoral Training Partnerships: the Central England NERC Training Alliance (CENTA), the AHRC Midlands4Cities and the ESRC Midlands Graduate School.
