Lily Davis (BEng Communications & Electronic Engineering, 2011)

Alumna Lily Davis (BEng Communications & Electronic Engineering, 2011) is currently on furlough and has been using her new found free time to sew headbands and scrub hats for NHS staff.

Lily was sent some spare neck tubes by a sportswear manufacturer, which she cut up and added buttons to, making around 200 headbands, as well as some fun patterned hats for a neonatal unit which was experiencing a shortage. Once those supplies ran out, she joined a local group who are co-ordinating donations of materials and making headbands, scrubs, scrub hats and scrub bags.

“It's been great being part of a local community group, having a creative outlet and learning a new skill, but most importantly supporting those doing such important jobs at this time,” Lily says. “Our NHS staff do an incredible job keeping us and our loved ones safe, and knowing I've made a little contribution to making their job more comfortable has been a great feeling."

We think her creations look fantastic!
