We are one of very few departments in the country that is exclusively dedicated to researching and teaching criminology. Our courses have been designed to provide an exciting and comprehensive study of criminology.
You will be taught by academics who are leaders in their fields and we pride ourselves on our friendly and accessible approach to learning and teaching, as shown in our student feedback. The criminology Major/Minor combinations allow for a complementary and tailored study of the subject, allowing you to access a range of topics from within your chosen specialism.
Due to our dedicated emphasis on criminology, we have a wide array of research interests and expertise. These include desistance and rehabilitation, domestic violence, gender and crime, hate crime, forensics, punishment, victimisation and drugs and crime. Our research informs our teaching, providing exciting and innovative content, as well as keeping you up to date with the latest developments in criminology.
As a student in our department, you will be encouraged to air your own ideas and contribute to debates that are constantly being renewed and revived as our society changes.
