Arriving at halls
We can’t wait to welcome you into your new home for the year. You’re probably feeling a mixture of nervous and excited, particularly in these uncertain times, but don’t worry, we’ll give you all the information you need so that you can focus on the exciting part.
In August, we will open a booking system that allows you to book a pre-arrival Drop and Go slot so that you can drop off your belongings before the start of term. You'll receive details about Drop & Go at the point when you accept your accommodation offer.
In August we’ll also open the Accommodation Welcome - your online induction where you can find out all you need to know about living in halls. You can access it through the Accommodation portal and we’ll contact you nearer the time to remind you. It’s important that you complete the Accommodation Welcome as soon as you can because it's a great way to find out what to expect when you arrive, along with essential advice on safety and security. We will also provide you more details about how we're making arrivals safer and you'll get more information in your arrival instructions. You will be able to go back and view the information in the Accommodation Welcome whenever you like.
Once you’ve completed your Accommodation Welcome, you’ll be able to book your arrival slot. You’ll be able to login to your accommodation account and select the ‘Arrival’ link on the homepage to book the date and time of your arrival. You can choose what time you’ll be arriving on Welcome Weekend. If you’re a medical student or international student your arrival weekend will be one week earlier.
Any student on any course can use the arrival booking tool to request early arrival into accommodation. In most cases when you request an arrival date earlier than your contract start date, you will be allocated to your term-time room and will be charged a nightly rate for the additional nights in that room. Whilst we will do our best to allocate you into your term-time room, there is a possibility that you will be given a different room until the start date of your contract.
Once you’ve chosen your arrival slot you’ll receive a check-in document by email. This has details of your booking and arrival information, such as parking locations and addresses. Please print out your check-in document and bring this with you to your key collection point.
