Minor in Spanish Language

Available for students starting in September 2018

If you choose a Minor in Spanish Language you will study Spanish language to the level of proficiency required to use the language professionally.

Year 1

You will study:

  • Either Spanish Language (Advanced)
  • Or Spanish Language (Beginners) 1 + 2

Year 2

You will study:

  • Either Post-Advanced Spanish Language
  • Or Post-beginners Spanish language

Year 3

You will study:

  • Either Final Year Spanish Language
  • Or Upper Intermediate Spanish Language

Modules shown represent choices available to current students. The range of modules available and the content of any individual module may change in future years.

Entry requirements

You will take the Advanced modules if you have at least grade B in A-level Spanish, and the Beginners modules if you don't.

Assessment

In language work you will be assessed by a variety of means, including spoken and listening tests, reading and writing exercises. There will be a balance of continuous assessment and end of semester assignments or examinations.

Now choose your Major

On a Major/Minor degree, you study a core area in depth (your major subject), while also exploring an additional area (in this case Spanish Language - Advanced).

Restrictions

Please note that you cannot study a Minor in Spanish Language with a Major in:

  • Spanish and Latin American Studies
