Modern Languages UCAS Visit Days

Modern Languages will hold UCAS Visit Days on these dates for applicants who have received an offer to start at Leicester in 2018:

  • Saturday 10 March 2018
  • Saturday 17 March 2018

If you have applied for two courses in this department, you only need to attend one visit date. If you are unable to attend any of these dates please email schoolofarts@leicester.ac.uk. Please also contact this address to let us know if you or any accompanying visitors have any disabilities or mobility difficulties.

How to book

You will need to log in to our MyStudentRecord system to book your visit day. If you have not already signed up for a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to click on the ‘New User’ button and follow the on-screen instructions to create your password.

If you already have a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to log in using your username and password. Your username is your University of Leicester ID number which you will find on your visit day invite email, on your offer letter or on your application acknowledgement email.

Once you have logged into MyStudentRecord you will need to click on the My Applications tab to book your visit day.

Amending your booking

If you already have a booking and you need to change the information you submitted, change the date or you wish to cancel your booking please log back in to MyStudentRecord and click on the My Applications tab.

If you have already booked your place please visit our travel information page for details on how to get to the University by car and by public transport.

Programme

From 9.15am Registration
Please make your way to the ‘Union Square’ in the Students’ Union (Percy Gee Building). You will then be taken to your registration point.

10.00am ‘Welcome to the University of Leicester’ Talk
A short presentation introducing the University of Leicester and our accommodation.

A Taste of Life at Oadby Student Village
Hop on a bus up to our Halls of Residence at Oadby Student Village. There will be buses running every ten minutes from 10.15am. The last bus will leave campus at 11.30am and the final bus back to campus will leave Oadby at 12.15pm. You will be able to see the social spaces on offer, an example of a typical student’s room and the facilities at Oadby. 

A Campus Tour 
Join our Student Ambassadors on a walking tour of the main campus. These run between 10.15am and 12.15pm and take 30-45 minutes. 

12.45pm Lunch 

Lunch can be purchased from any of the catering outlets on campus.
You will be provided with vouchers to use in contribution to your lunch costs when you register. 

1.30pm Modern Languages Presentation 
This session will be an opportunity to find out more about your chosen degree. You will learn about our unique Summer schools in France, Italy and Spain, and about the range of opportunities we offer for your year abroad: university courses, teaching assistantships and work placements in Europe and beyond. Current students will join us for these sessions, and are keen to share their enthusiasm for their studies by talking to you about their degree course at Leicester and their experiences of studying abroad.

2.10pm Applicants’ Session: applicants join current students and members of staff to take part in mini interactive taster activities related to each of the subjects taught in the department.

Parents’ Session: meanwhile parents will be able to participate in a Q&A session with a member of staff and a final year student – a chance to ask general questions and to hear more about the University’s Careers & Employability programme. 

2.50pm Refreshments
Applicants, parents, current students and staff all come together for refreshments. Applicants can visit the Modern Languages Study Centre with staff and current students if they would like to.

3.30pm Visit Day ends

If you arrive after the Registration period, please make your way in the first instance to the ‘Union Square’ in the Students’ Union (Percy Gee Building) to register, collect your programme and vouchers, and receive further directions.
