American Studies UCAS Visit Days

The Centre for American Studies will hold UCAS Visit Days on these dates for applicants who have received an offer to start at Leicester in 2018:

  • Saturday 17 March 2018

If you are unable to attend any of these dates please email amstudies@le.ac.uk. Please also contact this address to let us know if you or any accompanying visitors have any disabilities or mobility difficulties.

How to book

You will need to log in to our MyStudentRecord system to book your visit day. If you have not already signed up for a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to click on the ‘New User’ button and follow the on-screen instructions to create your password.

If you already have a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to log in using your username and password. Your username is your University of Leicester ID number which you will find on your visit day invite email, on your offer letter or on your application acknowledgement email.

Once you have logged into MyStudentRecord you will need to click on the My Applications tab to book your visit day.

Amending your booking

If you already have a booking and you need to change the information you submitted, change the date or you wish to cancel your booking please log back in to MyStudentRecord and click on the My Applications tab.

If you have already booked your place please visit our travel information page for details on how to get to the University by car and by public transport.

Programme

From 9.30am Registration
Please arrive and make your way to the 'Union Square' in the Students’ Union (Percy Gee Building). You will then be taken to your registration point.

10.30am ‘Welcome to the University of Leicester’ Talk

A short presentation introducing the University of Leicester and our accommodation.

10.45am Taster Lecture 
Dr Mark Peel, 'Who Freed the Slaves?'

11.15am Subject Talk

This session will include a presentation on American Studies at Leicester and an opportunity to find out about the various modules and special subjects options on offer throughout the course of your studies, as well as our Study Abroad options.

11.45am Tea and Coffee Session
During this informal session, students will meet with academics from the Centre for American Studies, while parents can meet with current students to discuss student life and American Studies at Leicester.

12.15pm Lunch 
Lunch with another chance to meet and speak to staff and students from the Centre for American Studies and Department of History

A Taste of Life at Oadby Student Village

Hop on a bus up to our Halls of Residence at Oadby Student Village. There will be buses running every ten minutes from 1.15pm. The last bus will leave campus at 14.45 and the final bus back to campus will leave Oadby at 3.30pm. You will be able to see the social spaces on offer, an example of a typical student’s room and the facilities at Oadby. 

A Campus Tour 
Join our Student Ambassadors on a walking tour of the main campus. These run between 1.15pm and 3.30pm and take 30-45 minutes. 

3.30pm End of event

If you arrive after the Registration period, please make your way in the first instance to the 'Union Square' in the Students’ Union (Percy Gee Building) to register, collect your programme and receive further directions.
