Geology

The Department of Geology will hold UCAS Visit Days on these dates for applicants who have received an offer to start at Leicester in 2017:

  • Saturday 3 December 2016
  • Saturday 28 January 2017
  • Saturday 11 February 2017

If you have applied for two courses in the Department of Geology, you only need to attend one visit date. If you are unable to attend any of these dates please email geology@le.ac.uk

How to Book

You will need to log in to our MyStudentRecord system to book your visit day. If you have not already signed up for a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to click on the ‘New User’ button and follow the on-screen instructions to create your password.

If you already have a MyStudentRecord account, you will need to log in using your username and password. Your username is your University of Leicester ID number which you will find on your visit day invite email, on your offer letter or on your application acknowledgement email.

Once you have logged into MyStudentRecord you will need to click on the My Applications tab to book your visit day.

Amending Your Booking

If you already have a booking and you need to change the information you submitted, change the date or you wish to cancel your booking please log back in to MyStudentRecord and click on the My Applications tab.

If you have already booked your place please visit our travel information page for details on how to get to the University by car and by public transport.

Programme for 3 December

9.15am Registration
Please register in the Department of Geology, ground floor of the Bennett Building (campus map) and collect your programme for the day. (If you arrive after 9.55am, you should go to 'The Square' in the Students' Union where you will be able to pick up a copy of the final programme with room information. One of our student Ambassadors will direct you from there.)

10.00am Welcome to the University of Leicester talk
This will include a short presentation introducing the University of Leicester.

10.15am Campus Tour
You will be given a tour of the main campus delivered by our Student Ambassadors.

11.00am Tour of City Living accommodation
This walking tour will visit our City Living student accommodation. The tour is given by our Student Ambassadors who will also answer any questions you may have about living at Leicester.

12.30pm Lunch and Department Visit
Back on campus, lunch will be provided by the department. Following lunch, you will have the opportunity to find out more about studying Geology, tour the department, and ask questions of our staff, students and the Admissions Tutor.

3.30pm Visit Day ends

10.15am Option: Campus Tour or Tour of City Living accommodation
You will be given the choice of either a tour of the main campus or a walking tour to see the City Living student accommodation. Both tours are delivered by our Student Ambassadors.

11.00am Tour to Oadby Student Village accommodation
The tour will take in the main Halls of Residence at the Oadby Student Village, a 15-minute bus ride from the main campus, and you will be able to view the social facilities and a typical student room. There is also a drop-in talk on student life taking place which you may wish to attend. The tour lasts about one and a half hours.

12.30pm Lunch and Department Visit
Back on campus, lunch will be provided by the department. Following lunch, you will have the opportunity to find out more about studying Geology, tour the department, and ask questions of our staff, students and the Admissions Tutor.
