Scholarships for different types of degrees

Year abroad

If you spend a year abroad as part of your degree, your tuition fee for this year will be £1,250 rather than the usual £9,000 (UK/EU students only). You will not be entitled to a scholarship for this year. Students from outside the EU pay 25% of the quoted international tuition fee.

Year in industry

If you spend a year in industry as part of your degree, your tuition fee for this year will be £1,000 rather than the usual £9,000 (UK/EU students only). You will not be entitled to a scholarship for this year. Students from outside the EU pay 25% of the quoted international tuition fee.

M-level degrees

If you take a four-year undergraduate Masters degree (MChem, MComp, MEng, MGeol, MMath, MPhys or MSci), your final year will be no different from the other three. You will pay a fee of £9,000 and be potentially eligible for both the Chancellor’s Scholarship and the University of Leicester Scholarship.

Part-time courses

Some of our undergraduate degrees are available to study part-time. If you choose this option, you will be charged an appropriate proportion of the standard £9,000 fee. You will not have to pay more than £6,750 in an academic year.

If your part-time course is at least 25% of the intensity of a full-time course you can apply for a tuition fee loan.

Medical degrees

If you take the MBChB and are awarded the University of Leicester Scholarship, you will receive this for the first four years of your degree. You will not receive the University of Leicester Scholarship award for the fifth year of your degree (or your sixth year, if you take an intercalated degree), because you will receive funding for fees and living costs directly from the NHS. (The Chancellor's Scholarship is not available to medical students.)

Second degrees

If you already have an undergraduate degree you will pay the same tuition fee as everyone else, but you are not entitled to University or Government support.
